Last year, $30 million of the Lottery revenue was directed to local police and firefighters' pensions.
INDIANAPOLIS (March 11, 2021) – To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Indianapolis, The Athletic Club Foundation, in partnership with the Hoosier Lottery, will host the 24th Annual Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Although the 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Run Walk were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greening of the Canal will take place to commemorate the day and remind all Hoosiers that there is light at the end of the rainbow.

Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, 2021 Irish Citizen of the Year John Hegarty, and Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor will deliver remarks at the event. In addition, representatives from local police, fire, healthcare and teachers’ organizations will be honored for their service to our communities. The Hoosier Lottery mascots will be present, and winners of the St. Patrick's Day Guess the Coin social media contest will be announced.
