24th Annual Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal

INDIANAPOLIS (March 11, 2021) – To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Indianapolis, The Athletic Club Foundation, in partnership with the Hoosier Lottery, will host the 24^th Annual Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Although the 2021 St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Run Walk were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greening of the Canal will take place to commemorate the day and remind all Hoosiers that there is light at the end of the rainbow. 

When: Wednesday, March 17, 2021

• 7:52 a.m. – Live music
• 8:00 a.m. – Remarks from local officials
• 8:15 a.m. – Pouring of the dye at the Ohio Street Canal Basin 

Where:

• Ohio Street Canal Basin located at Ohio and West Street downtown just east of Fire Station 13 and across the street from the Indiana Historical Society.
• Due to the pandemic, this event is not open to spectators. The public is invited to view the official pouring of the dye and watch the canal turn green via live stream available at the Hoosier Lottery Facebook Page and the Indianapolis St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Facebook page at IndyStPats. 

Who:

Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, 2021 Irish Citizen of the Year John Hegarty, and Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor will deliver remarks at the event. In addition, representatives from local police, fire, healthcare and teachers’ organizations will be honored for their service to our communities. The Hoosier Lottery mascots will be present, and winners of the St. Patrick's Day Guess the Coin social media contest will be announced.
