INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 28, 2020) - The Hoosier Lottery continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary as Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah Taylor announced that one Indiana winner claimed the $9.8 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot from the Feb. 22, 2020 drawing. Taylor presented the winner with their prize at Hoosier Lottery headquarters, in Indianapolis, on Feb. 26, 2020.
Brad Miller, a Fort Wayne resident and business owner, couldn't believe that he had won the Hoosier Lotto jackpot. A loyal player of Hoosier Lotto for thirty years, Miller indicated he has only missed about five draws over the years. During a press conference at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters, he was asked how he chose his numbers. Brad mentioned that he typically plays 3 sets of tickets that are either numbers he chooses or quick picks. "I always play the same numbers," responded Miller. "We have set numbers that we use our birthdays on, but the numbers that won for us, this time, were actually quick pick numbers."
It was a normal Sunday morning for Brad and his family. Brad was getting ready to go wash his car when he decided to check his tickets on his phone. As he was standing in the kitchen and began reading the numbers, he screamed for his wife to come and double check. Sure enough, Brad was the winner. Brad and his wife called their adult daughter and asked her to come over immediately. She was concerned, but her mom reassured her everything was okay. When she arrived, the celebration began!
An electrician for over 40 years, Brad has no plans for immediate retirement. He bought his ticket at Cap N' Cork Liquors located at 7002 Bluffton Road, Fort Wayne. "We're excited to see that the store will get a bonus for participating," said Taylor. Brad chose to take the lump sum option of $4,808,946.00.
