Elkhart Hoosier claims $50,000 Powerball^® prize
On Monday, April 19, Thomas Cardwell, Elkhart, claimed a $50,000 prize playing Powerball. The winning ticket was purchased at the Meijer C Stop on Elkhart Rd. in Goshen on Saturday, March 6 for the draw on March 10.

Every Saturday, Thomas buys Powerball and Hoosier Lotto® tickets in preparation for the Saturday and Wednesday draws. After accumulating a few weeks of tickets, Thomas scans them all on the Hoosier Lottery app to see if he has any winners. “I scanned this ticket and thought I only won $50. I looked at it again and noticed there were a lot more zeroes!”

Thomas continued to look at the ticket and compared his numbers to the ones that were drawn on that day. He matched every number but one.

After he confirmed his win, he texted his wife and she was stunned and excited. “Because we’re empty nesters, we are excited to use the money for home repairs as we plan to eventually downsize our home,” Thomas said.
