Mishawaka Hoosier wins $100,000 Top Prize on $5 $20 Million Payout Scratch-off

Richard Peterson, a machinist from Mishawaka, claimed a $100,000 Top Prize on the $5 $20 Million Payout Scratch-off. The winning ticket was purchased at O Discount Mart on Lincolnway East in Mishawaka.

A few times a week, Richard and his wife like to purchase a couple Hoosier Lottery $5 Scratch-offs to play together. When he got to the register at O Discount Mart, he went to purchase two $5 Stacks of Cash Scratch-offs, but they only had 1 ticket left. Instead, he decided to buy two $5 $20 Million Payout Scratch-offs.

When he got back to the house, his wife was on the phone with her son, so he decided to start playing without her. After he was done scratching, he was confused at the result. “It looked like I had just won $100,000, but there was no way,” he said. He tried to stay patient for his wife to get off the phone, but his excitement led him to holler across the room, “Hey Debra, when you get off the phone, can you come over here and look at this? It looks like I just won $100,000!”

Upon her review of the ticket, Debra kept screaming, “You’re right!” She was absolutely shocked. Richard immediately called his brother to tell him the good news. His brother jealously congratulated them on their win.
When asked about plans for their winnings, Richard said he wants to put some money into his house and take a nice vacation. In addition, he and his wife would like to make a contribution to each of their seven children.
