One Fort Wayne man’s trip to Kroger turned into the thrill of a lifetime. As is his typical routine, after purchasing his groceries, he bought a CA$H 5 ticket.

Not long after the drawing, he was at work and checked the winning numbers online. When he saw he matched all five numbers to win the $125,000 jackpot, he was shocked.

“I had to look at the ticket three times before it sunk in,” he recalled.

As soon as he got home, he put the ticket in his safe until he could drive to the Hoosier Lottery’s Prize Payment office in Indianapolis to claim his winnings.

Although he was elated to win such a large prize, the player said he wished his father was still alive to share in his excitement. His dad used to play a similar Draw game named Lucky 5 and won $50,000 back in the 1990s. “I know he would’ve been so thrilled,” he said.

The player plans to use some of his winnings to make a couple of updates to his house and will put the rest in savings.
