Winner Stories
After retiring from Chrysler as a machinist, Michael Ziner is living his best life fishing at his lake cottage, riding his Harley-Davidson and playing the Hoosier Lottery.
Michael bought a few Hoosier Lottery tickets at a Village Pantry and noticed several $20 $500,000 Fortune Scratch-offs in the trash but didn’t buy one. Later, while waiting in line at Kroger, he saw the game again in the nearby Hoosier Lottery vending machine, and this time he bought a ticket.
“I knew the game had been out for a while and that there were still a good number of unclaimed prizes, so I decided to play,” Michael recalled about buying the ticket.
At home, he scratched his ticket. Initially, he thought he’d won $100 and was pleased as he set it aside. Michael always scans his tickets on the Hoosier Lottery app to be sure he didn’t miss anything after scratching them. And sure enough, he didn’t win $100, but rather $10,000!
Michael waited until his wife got home that evening to tell her about his win.
“She plays, too, and I didn’t want to call and rub it in that I won a big prize,” Michael chuckled.
Michael plans to put the prize money in the bank for future fun and play.
