When restaurants closed during the COVID pandemic, restaurant manager Javier Gasnarez found work at a family member’s car dealership detailing vehicles. Javier then decided to open his own auto detailing business in Fort Wayne. What started as a one-man operation has grown to four employees in less than three years.

Javier’s business is taking off, but he starts and ends each day the same by purchasing a Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off at the gas station near his shop. Javier ran back into the gas station and thanked the clerk who had sold him the ticket. He then raced home to show his wife and kids, recording the exciting announcement on his phone. “My wife asked, ‘Why are you recording this?’, and I said ‘because it’s for real.’”

Javier had won $500 prior to this win, which he shared with his employees, giving each a $100 bonus. Though he will not be splitting this win with them, he is planning to invest in new equipment for his business. Javier also plans to use the prize money to treat his entire family to a nice steak dinner while visiting them in Texas.
