Group of New Castle Co-Workers Were One Number Away from Powerball^® Jackpot

A representative for a group of co-workers from New Castle, Ind. claimed a $50,000 Powerball^® prize at the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis.

“I couldn’t believe it!” the representative for the group exclaimed. “I always tell the people that are interested in joining us that we are never going to win anything. Looks like I was wrong.”

Every week, a group of co-workers from New Castle participate in a lottery pool for the Saturday night Powerball draw. “Every member of the group contributes $4 to purchase Quick Pick tickets with the pooled amount,” the spokesperson said.

The group had no idea about the win until the spokesperson scanned the ticket on the Hoosier Lottery app before they clocked in for work on Monday. The spokesperson made sure to call all six members of the lottery pool to tell them the good news. Every person was shocked and happy when they found out about the prize money.
