Nicholas Ballew, a contractor from Kokomo, loves playing Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs for fun. On his way to a plastering job, he stopped at a Marathon gas station to grab a bottle of water and a few Scratch-offs. Sitting in his van, he scratched the tickets and got the surprise of his life when he uncovered the top prize win of $20,000 on his second-to-last $20 Power 20s ticket.

"I got so nervous," Nicholas said. "I kept thinking, 'This can't be real!'"

After the store's clerk and manager verified his win, Nicholas jumped back in his van, called his client to reschedule the plaster job, and drove straight to the Hoosier Lottery's Prize Payment office in Indianapolis. On the way, he excitedly called his wife to share the good news.

"That's awesome!" she blurted out.

Nicholas plans to use his winnings to take his family on a vacation and will save the rest.
