On the first day the Mega Millions® game enhancements went into effect, Tara Turnipseed purchased a couple of tickets. The package delivery driver usually plays Powerball® and Mega Millions each week and was looking forward to playing Mega Millions with its exciting changes.

The day after the drawing, Tara stopped to get gas and took her ticket inside to scan it on the Hoosier Lottery self-service machine. When the screen displayed a message stating she would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim her prize, Tara was thrilled even though she wasn’t sure how much she won.

She asked the clerk to scan the ticket for her, and when the clerk told her it was indeed a winner, Tara asked how much she had won. “You won a lot,” the clerk replied.

“What’s a lot?” Tara wondered, still uncertain of her winnings. She decided to drive to the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office in Indianapolis to claim her prize. She was astonished when the Hoosier Lottery employee informed her that she had won $20,000!

Tara plans to put her winnings in savings.
