Harmonie Short’s husband plays the Hoosier Lottery just about every week. He normally buys Draw games and uses quick-pick numbers. However, when the Powerball® jackpot surpassed $1 billion, he asked his wife if she’d like to pick some numbers.

Harmonie isn’t much of a gambler. She has only played the lottery three times in her life. But her husband’s excitement for the big jackpot was contagious, and she filled out a Powerball play slip for the Saturday night drawing using family birthdates and ages as her numbers.

The couple eagerly checked their tickets the next morning and discovered that Harmonie’s picks had matched all five numbers to win $150,00!

The couple shared the news with their 11-year-old son, who immediately asked what he could buy with the prize money. Harmonie and her husband said they plan to use the prize money for a down payment on a house.
