Matt Baumgart of West Lafayette likes to occasionally play the lottery and buys Scratch-offs if he has some extra cash.

When he stopped to get gas on his way home for lunch one day, he decided to buy a couple of $10 Scorching 7s Scratch-offs. Once he got home and had lunch, he remembered the tickets and pulled them out to see whether he won anything.

When one ticket revealed that Matt won the top prize of $277,000, he was shocked. He scanned the ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app, and it confirmed his win.

Wanting to share his excitement, Matt woke his wife from the nap she was taking and showed her the app’s screen. She immediately sat up and said, “Oh my gosh! What do you do next?”

Matt, having never won a large prize before, had to admit he didn’t know. “I had to look it up on your website,” Matt laughed.

Matt plans to take his family on a trip with his winnings and put the rest in savings for his family’s education and his retirement.
