On Christmas Day, after celebrating the holiday at his mom’s house, Darrin was driving to the Christmas get-together at his in-laws’ house. He stopped at a Speedway to get gas and pick up a few Scratch-offs to give the adults who would be at his in-laws’. He also decided to treat himself to a $20 $500,000 Fortune ticket.

A few days later, Darrin pulled out the ticket to scratch it and was elated to see he won $10,000!

“I didn’t think it was real,” he recalled.

He quickly texted his dad and brother to share his news, and they were surprised and very happy for him.

Darrin plans to use some of his winnings to take a vacation.
