A Gary man was excited to win $50,000 on a Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off.
Robert Peterson, a forklift operator, plays Quick Draw and occasionally plays Scratch-offs. He purchased a $3 Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler from Save, 6150 W. Ridge Road in Gary. Robert said he enjoys crossword-themed Scratch-offs because they take more time to play.
“I scratched it off and I saw it had the 10 words, and I thought, ‘It can’t be,’” Robert recalled while claiming his prize at Hoosier Lottery headquarters in Indianapolis.
He quickly scanned his ticket with the free Hoosier Lottery app to see if he won, and then he woke up his wife, Kat.
“This was a good thing to wake up to,” Kat said.
The couple had no major plans for the prize money, other than paying down regular expenses.
