Nancy Soles of Terre Haute is a retired nurse who loves to spend time with her family. She keeps busy by watching her great-grandson during the day. Nancy also likes to play Hoosier Lottery games, especially Powerball®.

The day after a drawing, Nancy used the Hoosier Lottery app to scan her Powerball tickets and was surprised to see a message telling her she won and would need to come to the Lottery’s Prize Payment office to claim her winnings.

“I knew I won more than $600 and was happy about that,” said Nancy. “Then I looked up the winning numbers and couldn’t believe it when I saw I won $100,000 because of the Power Play. I was so excited!”

Nancy had been watching her great-grandson that day, and he joined in when he saw her celebrating, although he was too young to really understand what all the excitement was about.

Knowing her daughter was on her way over to Nancy’s house, and unable to contain their excitement, Nancy and her great-grandson went out to the front porch to wait. As her daughter pulled up, Nancy and her great-grandson started cheering.

“They were all hooting and hollering on the front porch,” her daughter said. “I thought Mom was going to have a heart attack!”

When Nancy told her daughter what the cheering was for, she was very happy for her mom.

Nancy plans to use some of her winnings to buy a headstone for her brother who passed away a few years ago and will put the rest in savings.
