When a Martinsville woman and her husband went out to dinner and then took a drive to look at Christmas lights, they had no idea how exciting their night would be.

While driving around taking in all the Christmas decorations on display, they stopped at a Smoke Shop so the woman could purchase a couple of Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs.

Once they were home, she scratched the QR code on her $5 Loteria Grande ticket, scanned it on the Hoosier Lottery app and was surprised to see a message that her prize was too large to cash at a retailer.

“We won! We won!” she shouted.

“How much?” her husband asked.

“I don’t know!” she exclaimed excitedly.

“Well, scratch it off!” he told her, the excitement building.

When she scratched the prize amount and saw she won the $100,000 top prize, they were both stunned.

The couple plans to use the winnings to purchase a new car and will invest the rest.
