When Matt Crittendon of Noblesville walked into Gainbridge Fieldhouse to watch the Indiana Pacers take on the Orlando Magic, he never imagined he would be walking out with $25,000.
Matt was selected by the Pacers to participate in the Hoosier Lottery Shootout, in which he had 25 seconds to make a layup, a free throw and a three-pointer to advance for the opportunity to make a half-court shot to win $25,000 and a $500 Hoosier Lottery Prize Pack.
He made the first three baskets and then had one chance to make a half-court shot.
"I think my mind was blank," he said. "I took a couple dribbles, stopped, took a big deep breath and then just tried to make it a shot that would at least have a chance to make it to the basket."
That shot not only made it to the basket--it went in!

As soon as he saw it go in, Matt began skipping on the court, mimicking a popular celebration of Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton.
"I thought it was very unlikely that I would even get to the half-court shot," Matt said. "But if I did, and I made it, I knew I wanted to do the Haliburton skip."
Matt is an emergency medicine physician at Riverview Health in Hamilton County and a Pacers fan. He and his family go to 10 games each year. He's not sure yet what he will do with his winnings.
"There are lots of opportunities to give, and our family feels it's important to give," said Matt. "So, we're definitely going to share it with some charity, some organization that needs it."
