Muncie resident Ernest Green is retired and likes to play Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs and Draw games for entertainment. When he stopped to get gas one day, he picked up a couple of $5 Merry Multiplier Scratch-offs and scratched them while still in the store. He scanned each ticket on the Hoosier Lottery’s app and was happy to see that he had a winner, though he wasn’t sure how much he won.

Back at home, Ernest scratched the rest of the ticket and told his wife he was pretty sure he won either $1,000 or the game’s $70,000 top prize. “It’s probably a thousand,” he told her.

“Wait,” he said after examining the ticket more closely, “you won’t believe it—it’s 70,000!”

The couple soon shared their good news with their son, who was excited for them.

Ernest plans to use some of his winnings to pay off a couple of bills and will put the rest in savings.
