When a Mooresville woman scored her largest Hoosier Lottery win yet, she wasn’t even aware of it. After purchasing a $50 Cash Extravaganza Scratch-off when she stopped for gas on her way to work one morning, she scratched it and thought she won $500.

To double-check that she really had won, she scanned it using the Hoosier Lottery’s app and was surprised to see a message stating her prize was too large to cash at a retailer. Needing to get to work, she put the ticket away, thinking she must have won the next largest prize—$2,000.

Later that day, she pulled the ticket out and examined it again. Her eyes widened with disbelief when she realized she won $10,000!

“I was so excited,” she said. “That’s the most I’ve ever won!”

For now, the prize money will be put into savings.
