Nappanee man wins a $50,000 top prize from Scratch-off on his way home from work

Maynard Miller won a $50,000 top prize playing the $30 Extreme Cash Scratch-off. The Nappanee resident was on his way home from work when he decided to stop at a Speedway. He bought 2 tickets and scratched them off right away, and was instantly convinced he won a big prize.

“I thought, ‘Is this real?’ I went to another retailer to use the ticket scanner and it read, ‘Claim at Hoosier Lottery Office.’ Then I knew it was real. I went home, put the ticket in a safe place and told my wife, ‘We need to take a trip to Indianapolis.’”

Before making the trip to the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters to claim, Maynard’s excitement continued, and he had some fun joking around with his wife. “I would pull the ticket out and say, “You want to see this again!?”

Maynard, who is in management with Martin’s Supermarket, enjoys the fun of playing Hoosier Lottery responsibly. “I just have fun playing. It’s fun and enjoyable, provided you stay in your means.”

Maynard mostly plays Scratch-offs. Once a week he will buy a few Draw game tickets.

After telling his wife the exciting news, the couple has otherwise kept the news quiet. They are putting the money in savings, tucking it away until the time is right.

Maynard has an accountant and lawyer to confide in, and simply wishes he had won more so he could support the community further.
