Hoosier from Washington wins $50,000 top prize on Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off 

On Wednesday, March 24, Matthew Hinkle, Washington, claimed a $50,000 top prize on the $30 Extreme Cash Scratch-off.

Matthew Hinkle decided to stop at his local Casey’s General Store before he went into work. “Part of my routine is to buy Scratch-offs before work. I had no Idea what was about to happen,” Matthew said. Matthew typically budgets about $45-50 a week and found himself with a little extra money in his pocket so he bought a $30 Extreme Cash and a few other Scratch-offs.

“After I bought the Scratch-offs, I needed to stop at my buddy’s house so I figured I would play the Scratch-offs there,” said Matthew. Upon his arrival, he and his friend started talking and he began to play. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Matthew said, “I showed the Scratch-off to my buddy and had him check it to make sure. It sure looked like I won $50,000!”

Once he confirmed that he had won the $50,000 top prize, Matthew started to celebrate. “The first thing I did was call my boss to tell him that I wouldn’t be able to make it into work.” Matthew said, “I excitedly told my mom, my sister, and a few co-workers!” 

Matthew rushed to the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters as soon as he could to claim the prize money. When asked about his plans, Matthew indicated he is really excited to pay off some bills and buy gifts for his children.
