Debra Keller of La Porte has been a fan of the Hoosier Lottery since it began. She even appeared on the Hoosier Millionaire TV show 30 years ago! The long-time player’s game of choice is Quick Draw.

On a particularly cold morning, after her husband had left for work, Keller took her tickets down from the fridge and began scanning to see if she won. Accustomed to the occasional $5 win, she paused when the Hoosier Lottery app showed her a different message—she needed to contact a Hoosier Lottery office to claim her prize.

Hopeful that she had won a few thousand dollars, Keller began researching how much she won. Soon, she figured out she had matched all 10 numbers and won $300,000! Not wanting to distract her husband while at work, she simply texted him, “I have a surprise for you when you get home.”

“I thought it was going to be brownies,” Keller’s husband said.

“He’d been asking me to make him brownies, but I was too flustered to bake after finding out what I won,” Keller said.

When her husband got home, Keller barely let him take off his boots before blurting out that she’d won $300,000 playing Quick Draw.

Keller and her husband plan to refinish their hardwood floors and take a cross-country train trip with some of the prize money.
