A quick stop for gas turned into an exciting adventure for a woman from Knox, who ended up winning $50,000 from a Powerball® ticket.

She was on her way to visit family when she pulled into a gas station for a routine fuel-up in Bunker Hill. Joining the nationwide excitement surrounding the growing Powerball jackpot, she decided to buy a ticket, opting for a Quick Pick for her numbers. Though she occasionally plays Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs and Draw Games, she never expected this ticket would be her largest win yet.

The Knox resident, who works at a bucket factory and is set to retire next year, was on break when she scanned her ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app. When she received a message that her prize was too big to claim at a retailer, she couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing. Unsure of the exact amount she won, she called the Hoosier Lottery office and found out she had just won $50,000!

“I was shocked,” she said.

She was very excited to take the trip to Indianapolis with her husband to claim her prize. They intend to pay off some bills and set the rest aside for retirement.
