Deatra Smith’s husband regularly plays the lottery. Whenever he stops to get gas for the dump truck he drives, he buys a few tickets and then scans them using the Hoosier Lottery app once he gets home from work.

On this occasion, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He showed Deatra the Hoosier Lottery app screen showing they had just won $50,000. “I couldn’t believe it!” exclaimed Deatra.

They had previously won $5,000 playing the lottery but had never won an amount as big as $50,000.

When Deatra called her sister to tell her, she had the same reaction and yelled, “Are you serious?!”

Deatra and her husband plan to use their winnings for some home improvements.
