One evening, Laura Broadbent’s husband had a hankering for ice cream. Laura obliged her husband and made a trip to Kroger to buy ice cream. While at Kroger, Laura picked up some mums and ice cream and after noticing she had cash in her wallet, which she rarely does, bought a Powerball® ticket.

Later that week, while her husband was watching the evening news, Laura overheard that a $50,000 Powerball® ticket had been purchased at the location and on the date she had purchased her ticket. She ran into the room to see the numbers but missed seeing most of them. Not thinking much of it, Laura held onto her ticket until her next visit to Kroger where she scanned it and received a message that she had to contact the Hoosier Lottery office. Unsure if this was an error, Laura asked the customer service representative to also scan her ticket. The representative informed her that she likely won a large amount.

After Googling the winning numbers, Laura realized that she had the winning $50,000 ticket she had heard about on the news!

Laura’s husband now requests ice cream every Saturday night since this ice cream run was such a success. Her adult children were excited for her win, but mostly enjoyed teasing their mom about taking a funny picture with a big check.

Laura plans to put the money in the bank.
