Ashley Garner’s days are pretty busy between being a manager at Walmart and a mom to an active family. Every once in a while, Ashley likes to play Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs for fun.

Ashley was running errands with a couple of her sons one afternoon and stopped at a convenience store to get something to drink. While in line at the counter, she decided to purchase a $5 Sapphire 7s.

A couple hours later, Ashley and her family were driving to the supermarket. She had not scratched her ticket yet, so she handed it to her husband so he could scratch it. Whenever Ashley or her husband buys Scratch-offs, her husband scratches each ticket until he can see whether it is a winner. If it is, Ashley gets to finish scratching it to reveal the prize amount.

When her husband scratched the $5 Sapphire 7s, he saw it was a winner and started to hand it back to Ashley so she could scratch the prize amount. However, Ashley was driving and asked her husband to finish scratching it. When he did, the ticket showed Ashley won the game’s top prize of $77,777!

Her husband thought it had to be a joke, especially since Ashley asked him to scratch the prize amount. Even though Ashley and her sons insisted the ticket was real, her husband just couldn’t believe it.

They happened to be driving past the convenience store where Ashley had purchased the ticket just a couple hours before, so she pulled into the parking lot and took her ticket—and her husband—into the store. She asked the clerk to scan the ticket, and her husband was stunned when the clerk confirmed it was a winner!

Ashley plans to use her winnings to purchase a vehicle and will save the rest.
