He is a Scratch-off player who originally got the ticket from his mother as a gift. At the time, he did not think much of it, but he scratched off the ticket and was ecstatic when he realized he had won.

Jairo is a student at Indiana University and first told his roommates. They were all so excited for him and were all constantly asking what he was going to do with the money. He also told his boss, and she was extremely happy to see him win.

Jairo plans on using the money toward textbooks, tuition and rent at IU.
