Winner Stories
Fort Wayne resident Andre L. likes to play Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs every now and then if he has some extra cash because it adds a little fun to his week. One day he stopped to get gas at a local Marathon station and got $10 in change when he paid for the gas. He noticed the $10 Stacks of Cash game near the counter and decided to purchase one ticket.
Back in his car, Andre scratched the ticket’s QR code and then scanned the ticket on the Hoosier Lottery app. Andre wasn’t sure what it meant when the screen displayed a message stating he would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim his prize, so he went back into the store and asked the clerk to scan the ticket for him. When the clerk handed it back to Andre and told him his prize was too big for the store to pay, Andre knew he had won a significant amount of money. He finished scratching the entire ticket, but he still wasn’t sure how much he won.
Filled with nervous excitement, he called his grandfather, who is a more frequent lottery player, to make sure he was home and then drove straight to his house. Andre showed his grandfather his ticket, and the older man pointed out that Andre had won the $10,000 top prize! The two were shocked but very happy.
Andre plans to put his winnings in savings and may use some of it to purchase a new refrigerator.
