Marrisa Sootsman loves to be outdoors caring for animals. She spends a lot of time on her fiancé’s family farm taking care of the animals. On a trip to the veterinarian, Marrisa stopped to get gas and buy a Powerball® ticket. Marrisa had recently started playing Powerball after noticing the large jackpot.

“My mom said you can’t win if you don’t play, so that’s why I decided to buy a ticket,” Marrisa recounts.

The afternoon after the drawing, Marrisa was about to head home to look after a litter of puppies when she remembered to check her ticket. After seeing that she won $50,000, Marrisa ran to her fiancé who was nearby to tell her the news. Marissa’s fiancé was in total disbelief about the win.

Marrisa plans to put the prize money into the family business and save some for a down payment on a home.
