Jesse Hughett is a retired welder who likes to play Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs to add a little fun to his day.
Jesse had $15 in cash after buying groceries at Walmart, so he purchased three $5 In the Money Scratch-offs. After loading his groceries into his car, he scratched the tickets and was shocked when one revealed a $100,000 top prize!
“No way!” thought Jesse.
Still in disbelief, he started for home. On his way, though, he decided to stop at another retailer he frequents to scan his ticket on their Hoosier Lottery self-service machine. When the machine displayed a message stating Jesse would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim his prize, he turned to the clerk behind the counter and said, “I think I just won $100,000.”
The clerk examined his ticket and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, you did!”
The Paoli resident plans to use some of his winnings to purchase a second car for his family and will put the rest in savings.
