Harvey Brooks of Indianapolis and three of his four sons were on their annual fishing trip in Canada when one of his sons noticed some lottery tickets in Harvey’s wallet. His son scanned the tickets with the Hoosier Lottery app and found that Harvey had a winning Powerball® ticket worth $8. 

When the group returned from their trip, with walleye and northern pike on ice, Harvey stopped by his local Village Pantry to cash his winning Powerball ticket and buy another. That next ticket ended up being a winner, too, except it was a $50,000 prize this time.

Harvey was stunned. He only plays the Hoosier Lottery a few times a month and has never won a prize like this before. 

The retired snack cake salesman and church elder plans to use the prize money to pay off his truck and pay for the fishing trip next year. 

"This money is going toward having fun with my family,” he said. “I'm going to use it to play with the kids and grandkids."
