Steven Hurst began his day like any other—he visited a local convenience store around nine in the morning and decided to check his Powerball Quick Pick ticket from a recent drawing. The cashier scanned the ticket and discovered that Hurst was the winner of a $1,000,000 prize. The Edwardsburg resident, who works in residential flooring, then headed to his job as usual, saying, “Well, I can’t leave this ticket in the truck anymore. It’s worth $1,000,000.” It wasn’t until later in the day that he shared the news with friends, who reacted with shock and disbelief.
Hurst plans to use the money on a down payment for a 1970 Road Runner convertible, as well as a house payment.
