A bathroom break on a family trip to Cincinnati resulted in an Elwood woman winning a $50,000 top prize on her favorite Scratch-off.
Rebecca Ley’s family stopped at Sunman BP in Sunman, Indiana. While she was there, she decided to buy a $3 Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler Scratch-off. She quickly played some of the crossword game, but she couldn’t finish before the family wanted to get back on the road. So, she had a cashier scan it for her to see if she won. They told her the prize was too big to cash.
Rebecca got back to the vehicle and scanned the ticket with the Hoosier Lottery app. She took a screen shot and sent it to her mom.
“I called my mom and said, ‘Don’t tell anyone yet!’” Rebecca recalled while claiming her $50,000 prize.
Rebecca was still working out her plans for the prize money.
