Warsaw residents Mark and Erin Serafino like to play Draw games when a jackpot starts to reach large amounts. Mark was on his way home from his job at a pediatric medical device company when he stopped to get gas and buy a few Powerball® tickets for the Saturday night drawing.
On Sunday, Mark and Erin had plans to meet at a local restaurant for brunch. Mark arrived early and, while he was waiting, checked the Hoosier Lottery website to see whether they had matched any numbers. Looking at the website, he thought they won $50,000. "Then I saw the multiplier and realized we won $100,000," he said.
As soon as his wife arrived at the restaurant, Mark told her the good news. Her first reaction was, "You did check the numbers, right?" He laughed and assured her that he had.
Mark and Erin are avid bicyclists and plan to donate some of their winnings to their community's bike trails project and will put the rest in savings.
