Chad Gilbert of Indianapolis likes to play Scratch-offs and usually buys a few tickets whenever he stops at a gas station or convenience store.
While he was driving from one plumbing job to the next, he stopped at Shelby Food and Gas and bought a $20 Loaded $10,000 Scratch-off. When he scratched the ticket in his truck, it showed that he won the top prize of $10,000. Not quite believing his eyes, Chad then scanned his ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app. It also showed that he won $10,000.
“I started hooting and hollering right there at the gas pump,” Chad said. “The people next to me looked at me like I was weird,” he laughed.
He showed his winning ticket to his next customer, who asked, “Is that a real ticket?” Chad assured him it was indeed real.
Chad recently bought the family-run plumbing business he had worked at for the past several years and plans to use his winnings to buy a new work truck.
