A group of friends from the south suburbs of Indianapolis split a $50,000 Powerball win.
The group appropriately called themselves “The Winners” while claiming the prize at Hoosier Lottery headquarters. They’ve been playing Powerball and Mega Millions together for four years.
One of the group members bought the Powerball Quick Pick at Casey’s in Franklin. The group won $50,000 on the Jan. 16, 2019 drawing by matching 4 of 5 numbers and the Powerball. Madeline, who bought the ticket, checked it with the free Hoosier Lottery mobile app and was in disbelief when she saw the prize amount.
The group’s plans for the money varied but including spending it on vacations and college tuition. Before taxes, each group member won $5,555.
