An Illinois man might be moving to Indiana after winning $50,000 on a Powerball ticket he purchased from a Hoosier Lottery retailer.
Martiniano Hernandez regularly buys Hoosier Lottery tickets while visiting his daughter in Indiana. Recently, he asked a store associate for a Mega Millions ticket, but the clerk printed him a Powerball ticket by accident. Martiniano said he believes mistakes are lucky, so he kept the ticket, which was a $50,000 winner.
“I was surprised when I saw this much,” he said.
Martiniano said he may use the money to put a down payment on a house, and he was considering moving to Indiana.
He bought the winning ticket at Speedway, 7405 Calumet Ave., Hammond.
