Patrick McBroom has worked at the City of Terre Haute Wastewater Utility for more than 30 years. In his free time, he sometimes plays Scratch-offs and typically purchases them at one of two local retailers. One morning Patrick stopped to grab a quick breakfast at JP Stop N Shop and bought a couple of $10 Million Dollar Spectacular Scratch-offs.
He scratched the tickets as soon as he got back in his vehicle and couldn’t believe his eyes when one ticket showed he won the top prize of $1 million. “I started crying,” said Patrick. “I was just overwhelmed.”
Patrick immediately called his son, who was thrilled for him and told Patrick to send him a picture of the ticket so he could see it for himself. Patrick also shared his good news with his daughter and sister-in-law, and they were both very happy for him.
Patrick plans to use some of his winnings to buy a camper and to help his children and grandchildren.
