LaShawnda Adeoye resides in Chicago, Illinois, but returned to her home state of Indiana to buy a Powerball ticket. The Purdue alum is now the winner of a $50,000 prize.
Gary-native Adeoye prefers to play when the Powerball jackpot gets high and grabbed a Quick Pick ticket at the Jewel Osco in Dyer for the March 9, 2019 drawing. She checked the ticket on her mother’s phone after the draw and didn’t believe what she saw until she confirmed the win at a local retailer.
When asked about her plans for the prize, LaShawnda replied “I look at this as travel money.” The pharmaceutical sales representative plans to take a trip to Los Angeles with her family, including a visit to the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa. She also hopes to plan a trip to New Orleans in the coming months.
