Greensburg man becomes first-time Hoosier Lottery winner after purchasing Powerball® tickets during the rising jackpot in January
Kevin Colson from Greensburg, Ind., recently became a first-time Hoosier Lottery winner, celebrating $50,000 from a Powerball® purchase made during the rising jackpot run in early January. Kevin only purchases Quick Picks, and he plays Powerball and Mega Millions® when the jackpots get really high. "I am still blown away that I won this much money when I don't play very often," said Kevin.
On the night he found out he won, Kevin had gone out to get dinner. While waiting, pulled out his two Powerball tickets to check the results. He visited HoosierLottery.com to view the winning numbers and noticed he had matched four-out-of-five numbers and the Powerball. He called the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Office the next day to find out how much money he won.
"I could not believe it," said Kevin. "I was so excited and could not wait to tell my fiancé." Kevin is constantly pranking his fiancé, so he knew when he told her the news it would take a lot of convincing.
In fact, he knows she still will not really believe him until she sees his new bank account balance.
Kevin has worked for the Highway Department for more than 30 years. He does not have any special plans for his prize money as he needs more time to process the life-impacting win.
