A southern Indiana couple said it was a “dream come true” when they realized they won $50,000 on Powerball.
Jim Remaley and his husband, Alex, regularly play Powerball and Mega Millions. They choose their own numbers and play most drawings. However, it was a Powerball Quick Pick Alex bought on a whim that won the couple $50,000.
Alex went to bed after the drawing knowing the Powerball number had matched and assuming they won $2. He hadn’t checked the other numbers. When he awoke, he checked the rest of the numbers and realized they won $50,000.
Jim and Alex plan to use the prize money to make some home upgrades. They had existing plans to take Jim’s mom on an Alaskan cruise, and may use some of the Powerball prize money to upgrade their amenities. They also plan to share some of the money with Alex’s family.
Save-a-Step Food Mart in Floyds Knobs sold the winning ticket.
