Last year, $30 million of the Lottery revenue was directed to local police and firefighters' pensions.
A semi-retired man from McCordsville won a top prize of $900,000 on a $20 Hit 9 Scratch-off.
Jim Lindstaedt said he knew immediately when he scratched the ticket that he’d won.
“I stared at it for a minute,” he said.
He bought the winning ticket at Circle K, 9609 Olio Road in McCordsville, where he buys his lottery tickets every morning. He returned to the store to let the employees know about the big win.
Although he’s won on Hoosier Lottery games before, he’s never won this much.
“I’ve had a few winners over the years, but this tops them all,” Jim said.
Jim is mostly retired but still does some business finance work. He plans to invest the majority of the prize money, though he’ll also give some to his adult daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.
