Shelbyville man learns he won Powerball® prize on way to work
H Linville from Shelbyville won $50,000 playing Powerball®, matching four-out-of-five numbers and the Powerball. H purchased the ticket at his local Casey’s, utilizing the Quick Pick option.
On his way to work, H had several Draw game tickets that he needed to scan to see if they were winners. He used the self-service ticket scanner, which prompted him with, “Please contact the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Office.” H took the ticket up to the cashier to scan the ticket a second time. She received the same message. The cashier told H, “Hey, you won big! You need to go to the lottery office.”
H, who works the overnight shift as a Kroger manufacturer, had to get to work. The whole time he kept thinking about his win wondering what his ticket was worth. H said, “The suspense was killing me while I was at work. I decided to Google ‘How much money do you get when you hit four Powerball numbers.’ The results that came up said I won $50,000! I got so excited!”
H doesn’t have any major plans for the prize money, but he would like to pay off his car.
H only plays Draw games, with his favorites being Powerball and Mega Millions®.
