A quick stop for pizza and Scratch-offs turns into a $100,000 top prize
Edward Byler, a construction worker from Geneva, Ind., won a $100,000 top prize playing the $5 Double the Money Scratch-off.
The day Edward purchased the $5 DOUBLE THE MONEY Scratch-off he was on the way home from work and was hungry. He stopped into the first convenience store he came across, the Crossroads Pantry, and grabbed some pizza and two Scratch-offs.
He scratched them right away. “My eyes grew big and my blood pressure went high. I didn’t believe it! I had the ticket scanned, and then downloaded the Hoosier Lottery App that night to check it again.”
Edward called his wife. “She didn’t believe it either. Later that night after we scanned the ticket again her eyes got so big with excitement.”
The only other individual Edward has shared the news with is his father-in-law. “Otherwise, people have talked to me about it. ‘Hey, congrats on the big win.’ Word travels fast.”
When asked about plans for the winnings, Edward said he is focused on catching up on paying bills, hopes to place a down payment on a house and invest in a business venture.
Previously the most Edward had won playing the Hoosier Lottery is $100.
