Daphne Smith normally plays Scratch-offs, but it was a large Powerball jackpot that inspired her to buy a Powerball ticket. When she checked it, she discovered she won $50,000.
Daphne, of Princeton, Indiana, bought the winning ticket at Casey’s in Vincennes for the March 16, 2019 drawing. She was on her way to work shortly after when she noticed the ticket and some others in her car. She decided to check them. She scanned the winning ticket, didn’t believe when the app told her she won $50,000, and moved on to scan the others. She returned to scan the $50,000 winner again. She immediately called her husband to share the news.
“It was kind of a big deal,” she said.
Daphne plans to pay off her vehicle and a credit card with the prize money.
