George Lynch of Indianapolis likes to play Scratch-offs and typically buys them whenever he is out shopping.
One morning George and his girlfriend were going to the store to get groceries for their upcoming Easter dinner when George stopped at a gas station to purchase a couple $30 200X the Cash Scratch-offs. While still in the convenience store, he scratched the tickets and was shocked when one showed that he won the top prize of $30,000. Wanting to make sure he really won, George scanned the ticket on the store’s kiosk. When the screen displayed a message stating he would need to visit the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office in downtown Indianapolis to claim his prize, George was elated.
When he got back to his car, he scanned the ticket one more time using the Hoosier Lottery app, “just to be sure,” said George. Finally assured that he really did win, George showed the app screen to his girlfriend and the couple celebrated.
As George was pulling out of the gas station and started to turn toward the grocery store, his girlfriend asked him where he was going. “To the grocery store,” said George. “Nope. We’re going downtown to the Lottery office,” said his girlfriend.
George, an Army veteran, has worked for the United States Postal Service for 23 years and is nearing retirement. He plans to use his winnings to pay some bills and will put the rest in savings.
