Tosha Tomlinson of Anderson is now one of eight national semifinalists who will vie for the chance to win a VIP trip for two to the NASCAR Championship Weekend in Phoenix, Nov. 8-10, and the chance to win $1 million during a special drawing televised live from the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race on Sunday, Nov. 10. 

By making it to the round of eight, Tomlinson will walk away with at least $7,500 and still has a chance to win the VIP trip and either $10,000 or $1 million.

The "NASCAR Powerball® Playoff" promotion is a partnership between Powerball® and NASCAR in which 16 semifinalists were drawn from a pool of entrants from all participating lotteries. The semifinalists have been going head-to-head in a series of drawings that coincide with the elimination rounds of the NASCAR Playoffs.

The results of the second elimination round were announced during the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 13, with Tomlinson moving on to the next round where she will compete with the seven other semifinalists to see who advances. The seven semifinalists then will be narrowed down to four during the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Nov. 3, with each of the final four winning the VIP trip to Phoenix and a minimum cash prize of $10,000.

"I was so shocked and happy when I found out I was a semifinalist," Tomlinson said. "My husband and I watch NASCAR every Sunday and have for years.

Although Tomlinson and her husband have attended a few NASCAR races in the past, she said getting to experience Championship Weekend would be a thrill. 

"I think the VIP trip would be so exciting," she said. "Getting to meet the drivers and be right there in Victory Lane with them while they celebrate would be awesome!"

From May 1 through June 17, Indiana residents could enter by visiting HoosierLottery.com/NASCAR and signing up or confirming their myLOTTERY membership. Once the promotion period ended, 35 names were drawn, with each receiving a $50 Hoosier Lottery Prize Pack and an entry in the multi-state lottery promotion for a chance to be one of 16 semifinalists.

"Given Indiana's rich racing tradition, this promotion is especially exciting," said Sarah M. Taylor, Hoosier Lottery Executive Director. "We will be cheering on Tosha and are anxious to find out whether Indiana will have a new millionaire on November 10."

The VIP trip experience will include roundtrip airfare for two to Phoenix, three nights hotel accommodations, two Hospitality Club passes for the NASCAR Championship weekend, two passes for VIP experiences at Phoenix Raceway during the NASCAR Championship Weekend including NASCAR Cup Series™ VIP access, NASCAR team hauler tour, pace car rides, Victory Lane access, welcome dinner and all meals, and ground transportation to scheduled events and activities.

Last year, Hoosier Lottery player Donald Pope from Michigan City advanced to the final four. He experienced the VIP trip to Phoenix and was on national television with the chance to win $1 million.
