This past Wednesday, on a night when the $1.04 billion Powerball^® jackpot was won on a single ticket sold in Illinois, one Hoosier Lottery Powerball player from Mishawaka matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball for a $50,000 win. However, the overall winnings for Hoosiers is much greater than that. 

Since the historic jackpot run began on May 4, 2026, 607,404 winning Powerball tickets were sold in Indiana, resulting in players winning more than $5.1 million. Highlight wins include 14 $50,000 and two $150,000 winning tickets. At the end of the jackpot run, it ranked as the eighth-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

Since its first drawing in 1992, Powerball has inspired the country with a chance to become a millionaire, while raising $38 billion for good causes supported by lotteries. Indiana had the very first Powerball jackpot winner in 1992 and leads the nation in Powerball jackpot wins with 40. 

The most recent Powerball jackpot won in Indiana occurred on April 29, 2026, when the $143.4 million Powerball^® jackpot was won in Indiana and Kansas. The jackpot-winning ticket in Indiana was sold at Al’s Supermarket, located at 702 E. Lincolnway in La Porte. The prize amount for each jackpot winning ticket was $71.7 million. In addition to the jackpot-winning ticket, 14 tickets worth $1 million and five tickets worth $2 million were sold across the state, marking one of the most memorable Powerball drawings in Hoosier Lottery history.

The $50,000 winning ticket purchased in Indiana for Wednesday’s drawing was sold at Mr. Fresh located at 725 W Jefferson Blvd. in Mishawaka. Daniel Miltenberger, a regular customer of Mr. Fresh, claimed his prize at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Office in Indianapolis on Thursday.

Miltenberger plays CA$H 5 a few times each week and likes to buy Powerball tickets whenever the jackpot starts getting close to $1 billion.

A former truck driver, Miltenberger spends his time helping out around the house, making repairs to the family vehicles when needed, swimming in his pool and playing with his toddler son.

Miltenberger plans to use his winnings to put a new roof on his house.
