In recognition of its responsible gaming programs, the Hoosier Lottery recently received two awards from the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG). The NCPG, the largest and most widely recognized national nonprofit organization that seeks to mitigate gambling-related harm, works to improve health and wellness by reducing the personal, social and economic costs of problem gambling.
Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor received the “Don Feeney Award for Responsible Gaming Excellence.” By elevating responsible gambling as a shared responsibility across the Hoosier Lottery, Taylor has helped ensure that player protection principles are embedded in decision-making, operations and outreach efforts.
Taylor’s leadership has driven innovations that extend beyond organizational boundaries to influence the global lottery sector. As Chair of the World Lottery Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, she led the development and launch of Project Red—a first-of-its-kind global benchmarking initiative that enables lotteries to evaluate and compare the maturity of their responsible gaming programs.
This initiative equips participating lotteries with actionable insights to identify gaps, adopt best practices and accelerate the implementation of effective harm-reduction strategies. By fostering transparency and shared learning, Project Red is elevating responsible gaming performance across the international lottery community.
The Hoosier Lottery also received the “Corporate Awareness Campaign Impact Award” for its 2025 Holiday Gift Responsibly Pledge campaign. The incentive-driven, fully digital Gift Responsibly Pledge offered individuals a $1 coupon if they opted in and committed to only gifting lottery products to those 18 and older “this holiday season and all year round.”
The campaign generated nearly 900,000 impressions across the Hoosier Lottery’s social media, app, website and email channels, resulting in nearly 6,500 completed pledges. Early engagement was immediate—500 $1 incentive coupons were fully claimed in just 16 minutes, without push notifications, demonstrating strong player interest and responsiveness.
